The American-Sri Lanka Buddhist Association, Inc., was founded in 1980 by Ven. H. Pannatissa Thero and Ven. G. Gnanissara Thero, in a small apartment, and the Venerable monks were propagating Buddhism in that apartment for a few months. Thereafter, in 1981, Ven. Kurunegoda Piyatissa (Maha Thero), the current Chief Incumbent, was invited from the London Buddhist Vihara to resume the Dhamma activities.
