Oklahoma Buddhist Vihāra is a non-profit organization dedicated to the study and practice of the teachings of the Buddha. The Oklahoma Buddhist Vihāra (OKBV) began as the Oklahoma Buddhist Center in 2007 located in Del City, OK. The center moved in 2009 to South Oklahoma City and in 2014 relocated to North Oklahoma City where the name was changed. The land and property of the new location were donated on June 30th, 2014 by Mrs. Shani Wijay in memory of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shelton P. Jayasinghe. OKBV is a residence house currently accommodating resident monks.
The Vihāra's aim is to develop and serve a spiritual community throughout Oklahoma.
Our resident monks are trained in the Theravāda tradition, but we invite people of all traditions and faiths to practice with us. Everyone is welcome. Please, invite anyone you find interested in Meditation, Buddhism, Yoga or Sanskrit and Pāli to visit and practice with us.
